Who We Are

Officially launched in September 2009, the Laurentian Accounting Association (LAA) is a student-run organization dedicated to representing and serving the interests of the accounting student body at Laurentian University.

The Laurentian Accounting Association strives to provide its members with highly relevant and engaging services and activities which foster personal, professional, and academic development in a friendly and supportive environment.
 

Envisioning Tomorrow – Our Vision

At the very heart of the Laurentian Accounting Association is the belief that learning is ultimately enhanced through the joy of friendship and shared experiences outside the classroom walls. With this in mind, every person enrolled in an accounting course at Laurentian University will have the opportunity to become a member of the LAA family, to learn about accounting as a profession and to share in the benefits of membership.

As a pre-professional organization, the Laurentian Accounting Association strives to represent professionalism, leadership, and initiative and to foster the development of these qualities in its members. We encourage and fully support our members’ desire to participate in intercollegiate activities; in doing so, the Association will positively contribute to the image of Laurentian University as an educational institution within the Province of Ontario.

Prospective students who are interested in accounting will strongly consider the Laurentian Accounting Association, its activities, and the values it represents when choosing a university. The LAA website, www.LaurentianAccounting.com, will serve as the primary gateway in which we convey and reinforce these values and beliefs to our members as well as to the public.

LAA alumni can and will go on to hold both varied and powerful positions within the business world. With this in mind, we envision a strong and unified alumni network where graduates will remember and draw upon their time at Laurentian University, the friendships made and the experiences shared as a result of membership in the Association.

The Laurentian Accounting Association will provide various opportunities for its alumni to reconnect with one another, to continue to support the Association and to meet and help guide future alumni into a successful career in accounting.

United through these similar interests and common goals, we ultimately envision the Association becoming a vital and integral component of the undergraduate student experience in the Faculty of Management at Laurentian University.
