There are a variety of ways you can become involved and show your support for the Laurentian Accounting Association.
Students
If you are a student currently attending Laurentian University and are enrolled in an accounting course, the simplest way is to become an LAA Associate Member and to attend LAA events throughout the year. This will help us maximize each event’s reach and overall effectiveness; in the process you will also have fun and expand your professional network. Who knows, you may even meet the person who will later offer you a job!
You can also further build your skills and your resume by choosing to volunteer. For example, you can choose to chair or join an event committee, or simply donate your time to helping the committee before, during, and/or after an event. There are always lots of little things that need to be done, and we greatly appreciate any help.
At the end of year LAA Awards Ceremony, the Executive Committee will even recognize outstanding members who have donated their time and energy to making the LAA a success!
So if you are interested in volunteering, please check the volunteer section of the forum as all opportunities that arise will be posted there. Alternatively, you can use the contact form or send us an e-mail at LAA@laurentian.ca to let us know that you are interested in becoming involved, and we will place your name on a volunteer list!
Accounting Professionals
As accounting professionals working in a variety of organizational settings, LAA members ultimately benefit from both your insight into the profession, as well as from your participation in LAA events.
With this in mind, you are more than welcome to show your support for the Laurentian Accounting Association by attending any or all of the 2010-2011 LAA events. In return, we hope you are able to develop meaningful and long-lasting working relationships with our members.
The Executive Committee does, however, recognize and appreciate that as working professionals, you are very busy and may not have the time to attend an LAA event. However, you can still show your support for the Association by becoming a sponsor of the LAA.
