Q: Who can become a member of the LAA?
The Laurentian Accounting Association is open to any registered student of Laurentian University who is interested in pursuing a career in accounting or finance, or who is enrolled in any accounting course offered through the Faculty of Management.
New for 2010 – 2011, we have introduced the Alumni membership tier. The LAA Alumni tier is open to any alumnus/alumna of Laurentian University in good standing who are pursuing a career in accounting or finance.
If you are a Cambrian College student and are interested in pursuing a career in accounting, you are eligible to attend all 2010-2011 LAA events for a small entrance fee in lieu of membership dues and to participate in the LAA online discussion forums.
Q: What does it cost to join the Laurentian Accounting Association?
For the 2010 – 2011 academic year, the fee for both Associate Membership and Alumni Membership is only $10.00!
Q: How do I sign up?
There are a variety of ways in which you can become a member of the LAA:
- Download, print, and complete the membership application form, and drop it and your dues off at the Commerce Office in a sealed envelope addressed to the Laurentian Accounting Association;
- During the month of September, the Executive Committee will be visiting accounting classrooms to introduce the LAA. You will have the opportunity to sign up during this time;
- Look for the LAA table during SGA Club Days on September 22 and 23, 2010. You will be able to sign up here;
- At each LAA event, there will be a registration table at the door.

Q: Why is a forum username assigned to me? Can I change it?
The Laurentian Accounting Association uses your first name and your last name as your forum username. This identification system helps us protect the integrity of the website; so unfortunately, you will not be able to change your forum username.
